History

Argyle, Texas came into existence when the Texas & Pacific Railway Company added a railway stop at the base of Hickory Hill Road. Incorporated in 1963, Argyle has become a community known for its beautiful rural character with a small-town lifestyle. The Town of Argyle truly offers the best of both worlds with the benefits of a quiet, small community atmosphere, along with the convenience of its close proximity of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex. Argyle’s excellent location within the Golden Triangle region of Denton to the North, Fort Worth to the West and Dallas to the East, provides a great place to reside, raise a family as well as having a convenient commute to regional job centers.

Yvonne Jenkins Memorial History Room

The Town dedicated the Yvonne Jenkins Memorial History Room on October 27, 2015.  The room is filled with artifacts donated by Kay Jenkins Teer, the daughter of former Argyle Mayor Yvonne Jenkins.  Through a partnership with the Denton County Commissioner's Court, the Denton County Office of History and Culture catalogs, maintains, preserves and exhibits the collection at Argyle Town Hall.  The History Room is open during regular business hours and is free for anyone to visit.  For more information, or to share your information on the history of Argyle, please contact the Town Secretary.
